Cached Exchange Account Deletion

I had an exchange account which I kept in cached mode on my personal computer for my previous job. Having left that job, I just deleted the account, and to my surprise lost all the e-mails, and had to create a new personal folders file.
I still have the .ost and associated files. Is there any way I can recover my e-mails and contacts for my (non-exchange acount) outlook?

You say you still ave associated files, do a search for .PST files and see if you haven't used those as mail delivery locations - worth a try before you start spending money ;)
the OST file is linked to your profile and your identity. Tis means if you WERE logged on via Cached mode and outlook was offline you could have exported the "mailbox contents" - the ost file, to a PST. If you only have the .OST file then you're going to have to run a OST recovery. There is a free ware tool which will do this for you, with mixed results (Outlook version dependant), but you get what you pay for. If the contents of the .OST is not critical then consider it lost, otherwise look at spending some money on a OST recovery tool.

I dug around for a while and tried out the freeware that I could find; unfortunately I'm running Outlook 2003, which seemed to be more finicky than previous versions.
After looking at the (expensive!) software available, I ended up paying $50 for the "Recovery Toolbox for Outlook" program, as opposed to $200-$500 for something with a little more polish and a few more bells and whistles. Some of the info it spat out when coverting my .ost to a .pst was uncessary junk, but all of the e-mails and contacts I needed were there.
Crisis averted!
