Downgrade from Vista Home Premium to Home Basic

I had to downgrade from Windows Vista Home Premium to Windows Vista Home
Basic. Before that I made a backup. While downgrading, computer reminded me
that all the files were automatically saved in Windows.old folder and they
were...but now I canât run any of the programs and consequently I canât open
any of the files either. I restored backup now that I have Vista Home Basic
but it doesnât seem to work at all...it has just been duplicated.
Is there any way I could use these programs and files again or is everything
lost for me? i am
