Exchange 2007 and External email addresses error

when a user uses microsoft web outlook and types in the
distro list it resolves it.... but when I click on the name to list the
contacts I get the following message:
Access is denied.
Outlook Web Access was unable to access the Active Directory resource. This
may be because the Active Directory object does not exist or the object has
become corrupted, or because you do not have sufficient access rights for the
object.
