Microsoft and Novell Announce Broad Collaboration on Windows and Linux Interoperability and Support

Many thought this day would never come. Microsoft and Novell have announced collaboration in the following areas:Virtualization, Web services for managing physical and virtual servers and Document format compatibility.Other interesting bits include microsoft recomening SUSE as the preffered flavour of Linux.

This is a rather interesting AND strategic move. A few weeks ago Microsoft decalared it's Virtual storage spec as "open". There seems to be an element of hedging here on MS's part, Novell really needs the help, and MS earns cudos by doing something formal with an open source vendor.
Industry comentaries will be rife with opinion after this move, and I would expect one or two further surprise announcements in the near future......
