My office PC is dead slow

When I try to open Windows Explorer, it takes 30 seconds to come out of the "not responding" mode. This happens even though I am running only very few apps..

Why is it happening? I am getting irritated at work :(. Please help

I dont use any of those mentioned in the URL (Windows Image Acquisition (WIA), HP ScanJet 4400C/4470C, HP ScanJet 5400/5470C, RCA DCM 215 DSL Modem, Cable Modem (model unknown))

Is there any chance that it has something to do with the network drives - some 8 network drives are there.

did you make sure no virus? also, did u make any changes recently on this PC? for example, installing new software etc? also a good idea to run the scandisk/defrag.

regarding network drive - you are the only having 8 network drives in your office? how about your colleagues? they might have the same setup as you and you can do a comparison as well with respect to this "explorer no responding" issue.

good luck

IT folks in your company might be doing shared network drive migration to new Windows server platforms. In the meantime, I suggest you log a case with your helpdesk and let the right team know, since this is common issue in your office.
