My office PC is dead slow

When I try to open Windows Explorer, it takes 30 seconds to come out of the "not responding" mode. This happens even though I am running only very few apps..
Why is it happening? I am getting irritated at work :(. Please help

Is there any chance that it has something to do with the network drives - some 8 network drives are there.
btw, what ver of windows/IE?
did you make sure no virus? also, did u make any changes recently on this PC? for example, installing new software etc? also a good idea to run the scandisk/defrag.
