No Windows Live ID for gmail users?

It looks like users of e-mail addresses on @gmail.com are not able to sign up for a Passport, I mean Windows Live ID... "The portion of your e-mail address that follow the @ symbol is part of a "reserved domain" such as live.com, hotmail.com, msn.com or passport.com.
