After running the Vista Business OS install I and failing the notebook after installing KB943899 I was able to safe boot and uninstalled the KB943899 update. After which I set the KB943899 update to be hidden. All was working ...

KB943899 rewrites HDD parameter in a controller board (spin-up: setting power-up in standby). Sengoku uploaded a small linux program to rewrite the parameter on his blog. Select boot device to usb memory. http://blog.gcd.org/archives/51128784.html Goodluck!
