The Server Core dillema

Windows Server 2008 features a minimal Server installation option called "Server Core". This option installs a Windows Server without (Internet) Explorer, Windows Mail, Windows Media Player, etc. This sounds like a good idea, but the Server Core team also ditched features like the .Net Framework, PowerShell, and all of the Management Consoles. This was necessary. The goal is to create a Windows Server that is both lightweight and low maintenance while at the same time have a reduced attack surface. Usability and Deployment Scenarios have got reduced to a minimum, but it's the price we have to pay... Or is Server Core just another stop on the route to MinWin?
