Vista locks up

I have a laptop with Vista Home Premium preloaded. Frequently during logging
off for a user the computer locks up showing the Logging off window all the
time. I can't do anything but to turn off the computer with the off button.
How can I solve this problem?

I have Vista on a Toshiba and it constantly locks up. I have to press CTRL+ALT+DEL and close explorer and then run it again. Any suggestions would be helpful
